Miami Beach is located in Miami-Dade County, between Bal Harbour and Key Biscayne along Highway A1A near Biscayne Bay, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic seacoast.

Located in South Beach, the Art Deco District is a one-mile square area with more than 650 landmarks, pastel colored buildings in the Art Deco, Streamline Modern and Spanish Mediterranean Revival styles, dating back to the 1920’s. The Art Deco District was listed ion the National Register of Historic places in 1979 under the efforts of the Miami Design Preservation League founders, Barbara Capitman and Leonard Horowitz. Their vision of architectural preservation prompted the renaissance of South Beach and the Art Deco District.
