Weekend Roundup

Weekend, here we come!

Friday (5/24) // Free Art Friday:

The internationally renowned Free Art Friday movement has hit Miami full-force and is reinvigorating the street art scene one Friday at a time. Here’s how it works: Local artists create a piece of art and leave it on the street (often marked “free art,” or something similar). All you have to do is find the art. Sometimes it’s easy, other times it requires some exploring. Our hint: start off in the direction of one of Miami’s most creative neighborhoods, Wynwood.

For more info on this movement and how you can score original artwork, check out the Free Art Friday website or Miami Free Art Fridays on Facebook.

Saturday (5/25) // Radioboxer at Will Call:

Confetti, stage blood, megaphones, cartoon hats—nothing is out of place at a Radioboxer show. Miami’s home-grown, self-described “bi-polar pop” band is known around town for their over-the-top shows packed with stage diving, crowd-surfing and raw, unadulterated energy. Catch them live at Will Call with special guests The Vilifiers and be ready to rock, because they always bring their A-game. (directions)

Sunday (5/26) // Backyard Boogie at Wood Tavern:

Spend Sunday at Wood Tavern, Wynwood’s backyard oasis, and leisurely sip $5 sangria or spiked lemonade (or try both because you’ve probably got tomorrow off) while jamming out to old-school hip-hop and chowing down on some required, Memorial-Day-weekend barbecue. (directions)

P.S. The Broken Shaker crew have closed up shop for the long weekend starting today, and they’ll be back on Tuesday, May 28th. See you then!
