Weekend Roundup

Looooong weekend!

Friday (8/30) // Explore Calle Ocho (aka Little Havana):

This weekend, set out to explore one of Miami’s most exciting (and often-underrated) neighborhoods, Little Havana. Your guide? New York-based writer/photographer Jenny Adams’ blog Saltwater Cures Everything. In her post An Afternoon in Miami’s Calle Ocho, Jenny reveals the hidden gems that make up this colorful nabe. (Directions)

Saturday (8/31) // Patpong Road:

Patpong Road. Have you heard of it? Named after Bangkok’s red-light district, this new lounge—created by the same great minds that brought the world Yardbird—is bringing the sexy, gritty side of Thailand to Miami Beach. We’re in. Check it out Friday and Saturday nights from 10:30pm-2am. (Directions)

Sunday (9/1) // Bloody Mary Competition at The Broken Shaker:

The best bloody marys (plural) in Miami Beach are coming to Freehand Miami, and we have a feeling that you won’t mind taste-testing a few. Drop by at 3pm on Sunday for a backyard cookout and bloody mary making competition with the crew at Absolut Vodka. While Miami’s craftiest bartenders are mixin’ bloodys, we’ll be manning the BBQ, grilling up burgers, dogs and more. Gonna be a good time! (RSVP)

Monday (9/2) // F1rst Surf Shop Presents Tropically Yours:

Broken Shaker’s new weekly Off-Season Off-Duty series begins this Monday! To kick things off, it’s locals Mark Gamez and Christian De La Iglesia of F1rst Surf Shop behind the bar mixing up Tropically Yours cocktails spiked with Stolen Rum. Accompanying Mark and Christian’s libations will be ping pong, popcorn and the premier of their short film, Tropically Yours. Our place, 9pm! (RSVP)
