Michael Parish

Raise a glass to The Broken Shaker’s Bar Manager, Michael Parish. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, this bartender extraordinaire–when he’s not behind the bar–presides over the Miami chapter of the United States Bartenders’ Guild, and recently represented the 305 at the US Bartender of the Year competition in New York with his original Angel’s Share cocktail. When he is behind the bar, expect him to whip up and hand off one of the best cocktails in Miami. In his downtime, you can find Michael boxing at the gym, taking a walk down the beach or enjoying a little mezcal. We recently caught up with him to chat more about Miami, cocktails, and The Broken Shaker.

FH: What’s your favorite drink to mix during the summer? Mind sharing the recipe?

MP: Margarita’s. The recipe: 2 oz Blanco Tequila, 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice, .5 oz agave and .5 oz mezcal(float).

FH: Where do you go in Miami for great food?

MP: Tap TapMichy’s and Eating House.

FH: What’s the best thing about the Magic City?

MP: The international culture surrounded by the tropics.

FH: Cocktail starring Tom Cruise: love it or hate it?

MP: It’s kind of a love-hate relationship…

FH:  If you could hang out with anyone, living or dead, real or imaginary at The Broken Shaker, who would it be?

MP: Don’t have any imaginary friends! Just the “real ones” and you know who you are! That’s what The Broken Shaker is all about!
