Introducing our fearless Activity Coordinator, Amanda Lee! This Long Island-raised traveler is no stranger to the Magic City. In between college and backpacking around the world, Miami has been her on-again-off-again home for the past 10 years and we’ve been lucky enough to convince her to hang around for a while to organize all of the activities and events you’re going to enjoy. If you’re visiting Freehand Miami, you’re probably going to run into this lady; so here’s a start on getting to know her…
Freehand Miami: Tell us about what you do at Freehand Miami.
Amanda Lee: I do anything from researching ideas for our guests, to hanging underwear in our trees for Art Basel– and I’m always available to assist in any taste testing that needs to be done at Broken Shaker.
FM: What makes Freehand Miami different?
AL: Freehand Miami is unlike any other hotel or hostel in Miami Beach. We have created a relaxed atmosphere that allows guests to roam from our vintage styled lobby into our beautiful patio/pool area, all while bumping into people from all over the world who are here to also meet new people and experience new sides of Miami.
FM: Of all of the places you’ve traveled, which one’s your favorite and why?
AL: This is a super hard question that I have been asked before. I love travel and basically am a travel junkie (as so eloquently put by my friends). Picking a favorite city is nearly impossible but I have to say one of the coolest experiences I have ever had is dog sledding in Iceland and then being lucky enough to see the Northern Lights.
FM: What’s your idea of a perfect day in Miami?
AL: Sundays are my favorite day, I’ll typically go for a run early on the boardwalk, grab some brunch at Yardbird (the whole reason I actually went for the run) and spend the rest of the day laughing with friends wandering/biking around South Beach.
FM: Do you have any pets?
AL: Yes, I have a dog-his name is Chester (the molester). He’s very regal and if he spoke he would have a British accent, even though he is from the Hialeah pound.
FM: How are your Ping-Pong skills?
AL: I can play ping pong pretty well, considering I never get to practice with Elad always hogging the table.
FM: If you could hang out at The Broken Shaker with anyone, living or dead, real or imaginary, who would it be?
AL: I would want to have a group. It would be Tupac, Dave Chappelle, Conan O’Brien, Lisa Lampanelli and Joan Rivers.
